Black Pepper Snickerdoodles

  • Author: by Mary
  • Prep Time: 10 mins
  • Cook Time: 13 mins
  • Total Time: 23 minutes
  • Yield: 32 1x

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp fresh ground black pepper
  • ******
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  2. With a mixer, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, scraping the side of the bowl with a rubber spatula.
  3. Add the vanilla, and mix to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper before adding to the butter mixture. Mix gently until just combined. If your dough is too sticky to roll into balls, refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the 2 Tbsp sugar, black pepper, and cinnamon and stir together with a fork. Roll the dough into 1/8 cup-sized balls and roll in the sugar mixture before placing on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 11-13 minutes, or until the edges are set and tops are barely cracking.
