I definitely just googled "passion fruit or passionfruit" to which the internet said "WHATEVA." Apparently either one will fly, so I'm sticking with passionfruit. I mean passion fruit. I mean, I do what I want! We'll come back to the fruit of love later. First, LET'S CATCH UP!
I don't really have much to report on, besides the fact that we moved 100 meters yesterday and rainy season has FINALLY arrived! I think. I'm kinda pulling the trigger there, but methinks it rained last night, and it's dark and stormy today. I also think I saw some drops on the pond outside yoga this morning, but my "omg my hips are so tight in pigeon" brain may have been deceiving me. It's a tricky one, THE BRAIN! Everyone has been lamenting the fact that the rain hasn't come yet, since it's overdue and all the rice wants it, and all the people want it, especially the ME person because it. is. HOT.
It hasn't been oppressively hot, like we encountered a few times in Vietnam {YOU GUYS, NO JOKE AS I AM WRITING THIS I HEAR FO REALSIES RAIN DROPS STARTING. There is a 100% chance that it is definitely raining outside right now!} but it has been a little bit uncomfortable at night, until about 3 am when it finally cools off. With the rain here, that'll all change! Woohoo! All of the expats we've met who have lived here for a few years say that these last two weeks have been the hottest they can remember, which bodes well for us! I'm all for warmth, but I do NOT love the heat.
As for the moving, we'd had enough with the chickens. They were mere feet away from our pillows, so we moved to a slightly larger, slightly further away, slightly older (3 years instead of 2 weeks) villa that will actually be much nicer. And it has loose rocks as shower floors! And a bigger kitchen! AND, that bigger kitchen *appears* to have more heat control on the range. Heck. YES. I've thoroughly freaked out about keeping spiders away, so I'm spraying peppermint essential oil E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E. Really, this house will probably reek of peppermint for years to come — and hopefully there will be no spiders!
Now, onto MOOTHIE MONDAY! You guys are gonna like this one. At least, I liked this one! I checked out the local organic farmers market last week, and while I didn't actually find THAT much (I'm hoping the weekend one is more fruitful. no pun intended), I did find goji berries. I'll admit, I've never really had a goji berry. I see them everywhere in recipes, and they're supposed to be incredibly good for you, but I also admit I can't really give you any details there. You're gonna have to ask the google on that one. I DO know that you usually find them dried, so for making them into a smoothie you should really soak them for a little bit (it doesn't take that long) to rehydrate and plump 'em up! Aren't they pretty? SO RED.
As for the passionfruit, um... no explanation needed! Passionfruit is a hot contestant for "Mary's Favorite Tropical Fruit" — giving mango a good scare. It's really a tossup right now. I was intrigued to discover that the passionfruit in Bali are very different than the passionfruit in Cambodia and Vietnam! Rather than being purple on the outside and orangey on the inside (our wedding colors! Hooray!), they're orangey on the outside and colorless on the inside! Not quite as exciting, but they're still incredible and absolutely addictive. If you're looking for passionfruit at the store and don't see any that look like my pictures, look for something dark purple in the same shape. It'll be delightful!
This moothie is really more of a lassi. In fact it is completely a lassi. It's very simple: goji berries, passion fruit, plain yogurt, and honey if you want it (to taste). Really, that's it. GO GET 'EM!

WOW! This looks so appetising! Would you think a thickened coconut cream would be a good alternative for the yogurt? Great photos too!
Mary says
THanks, Steve! I suppose you could try coconut cream — it would certainly give a totally different flavor. Let me know how it goes!

Hi Mary, lovely use of passionfruit! How about adding it to the Food on Friday: Passionfruit & Tamarillo collection over at Carole's Chatter? Cheers
